Traditional Indian brittle sweets called “chikki” are typically made with sugar and jaggery or nuts. Apart from the popular groundnut (peanut) variety, there are other kinds of chikki as well.
This dessert is known as layiya patti in parts of North India, particularly in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
Usually, jaggery is the sweetener of choice, but sugar is sometimes used to sweeten chikkis. Special chikkis are made with cashews, almonds, pistachios, and sunflower seeds.
